The New Zealand Breakers defeated Illawarra 106–95 at Spark Arena to keep their slim NBL finals hopes alive. Missing Sam Mennenga, Karim Lopez and Rob Baker II, the Breakers scored 61 first-half points and maintained their advantage through a late challenge.
Izaiah Brockington led with 27 points, while Parker Jackson-Cartwright added 23 and Tai Webster 17. Illawarra reduced a 16-point third-quarter deficit to two early in the fourth, but New Zealand’s guards made the decisive plays as the visitors committed costly turnovers.
Todd Blanchfield and Tyler Harvey each scored 19 for the Hawks. JaVale McGee had 15 before sitting out the second half. New Zealand improved to 12–19, still two wins behind sixth-placed Tasmania with limited games remaining.
