United States shut out Sweden to reach the Olympic women’s final
A four-goal second period extended a record American defensive run.

The United States defeated Sweden 5–0 to reach the Olympic women’s hockey final. Four goals during the second period gave the Americans control, continuing a campaign in which they had not trailed after the opening scoreless state of any game.
Abbey Murphy contributed a goal and an assist, with Cayla Barnes, Taylor Heise, Kendall Coyne and Hayley Scamurra also scoring. The Americans finished with a 34–23 shot advantage, while Aerin Frankel registered her third shutout, a single-tournament Olympic record.
The result extended the team’s scoreless defensive streak to 331:23 and completed five consecutive shutouts. Sweden moved into the bronze-medal game, while the United States awaited the winner of Canada’s semi-final against Switzerland after outscoring its opponents 31–1 across six tournament appearances.
