Valverde's late penalty earns Uruguay a draw at Wembley
Ben White scored on his England return before Uruguay equalised in stoppage time.
Source publication date:
England and Uruguay drew 1-1 at Wembley in their March international friendly. Ben White marked his first England appearance since 2022 with an eighty-first-minute goal, but Federico Valverde converted a penalty in the fourth minute of added time to deny the hosts victory.
White finished after Harvey Barnes flicked on Cole Palmer's corner. Earlier, James Garner and goalkeeper James Trafford had made their senior England debuts, while Marcus Rashford, Dominic Solanke and Phil Foden contributed to the home side's attempts to break the deadlock.
Uruguay's equaliser followed a video review of White's challenge on Federico Vinas inside the penalty area. The late intervention left England with a draw in its penultimate home match before the World Cup and maintained Uruguay's resistance after a lengthy injury stoppage in the first half.
