The experienced official remained active in road races and track meetings through 2025.
Source publication date:
England Athletics paid tribute to Ivor Wiggett, who died on 27 January after a short illness at the age of eighty-two. His involvement in running began with Hornsey St Mary’s Harriers in the early 1960 s, and he remained president of the Chingford League until his death.
Wiggett served as a starter, starter’s assistant, endurance official and road-race adjudicator. He chaired RunEvents in the London region, had been involved with its predecessor from the beginning and was a life member of the National Athletics League.
He continued working extensively during 2025, taking his total of adjudicated road races beyond five hundred and officiating at more than sixty track meetings that year. The federation’s obituary remembered both that sustained contribution and his willingness to support runners and event organisers through personal contact.
