Wales announces its first senior men's meeting with Ghana
The June fixture in Cardiff will bring an African national team to Wales for the first time.
Source publication date:
Wales announced a senior men's friendly against Ghana at Cardiff City Stadium on June 2. The fixture would be the first meeting between the two countries and the first occasion on which an African men's national team had played in Wales.
Ghana had already qualified for the World Cup, with England, Croatia and Panama in its group. The FAW highlighted an available player pool including Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams and Mohammed Kudus as Wales arranged its programme before the tournament in North America.
Wales' only previous senior men's encounter with an African nation had taken place in Tunis in June 1998, with current coach Craig Bellamy involved as a player. A second June match, the kick-off time and ticket arrangements were still to be announced in the federation's March statement.
