Wales names 26 players for the World Cup play-offs
Ward and Matondo returned, while Davies, Mepham and Moore were unavailable through injury.
Source publication date:
Craig Bellamy selected twenty-six players for Wales' World Cup play-off pathway, beginning with a home semi-final against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Danny Ward and Rabbi Matondo returned to the national squad for the first time during the season as Wales prepared for the decisive March window.
Ben Davies, Chris Mepham and Kieffer Moore were unavailable after sustaining injuries since the previous international gathering. The chosen group included Harry Wilson, Brennan Johnson, Dan James and David Brooks, giving Bellamy several attacking options alongside his available defensive and midfield players.
A semi-final victory would produce a home final against either Italy or Northern Ireland. Both potential Cardiff matches were sold out. The successful team from the pathway would enter World Cup Group B with co-host Canada, Switzerland and Qatar in North America.
