Wales selects its U18 group for a new qualifying format
Jon Grey named twenty players for matches against France, Switzerland and Hungary.
Source publication date:
Jon Grey selected twenty players for Wales' opening round of the 2026/27 men's Under-19 European Championship qualifiers. His under-eighteen group would travel to Switzerland during the March window as the competition introduced an earlier start and a three-round qualifying structure.
Wales were drawn in League A Group Seven with France, Switzerland and Hungary. Matches against France and the hosts were arranged in Carouge, before the final fixture in Vevey. The group would determine league status for the next qualifying round in the autumn.
The first three teams in each League A group would remain at that level, with the fourth relegated to League B. A third round the following spring would decide the seven finalists joining the hosts. Grey's squad included players from Cardiff, Swansea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
