Biancheri and Harris scored in a 2-0 win at Rodney Parade.
Source publication date:
Wales earned its second victory of the European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign by defeating Belarus 2-0 at Rodney Parade. The result moved Matty Jones' side off the bottom of Group I, with both goals arriving during a productive first-half performance in Newport.
Gabriele Biancheri opened the scoring after fifteen minutes when Cameron Congreve found him with a through ball. Congreve supplied the second goal as well, delivering a corner that Archie Harris headed home in the forty-first minute to establish a clear half-time advantage.
Belarus had opportunities through Trofim Melnichenko and Kirill Gomanov, but Wales defended its lead. Biancheri was denied soon after the restart, while Kit Margetson made a late save from Timofei Simanenka to preserve the clean sheet and secure the three points.
