Weather ends Silvaplana men’s snowboard slopestyle programme
Cancellation confirmed Su Yiming’s season title by one point over Judd Henkes.
Source publication date:
Officials cancelled the men’s snowboard slopestyle competition at the Silvaplana World Cup Finals after storms, wind and changing snow conditions prevented safe qualification. Thursday’s weather had already displaced the programme, and further disruption on Friday left no practical place in the crowded weekend schedule.
Sixty riders had trained through repeated interruptions at Corvatsch. With other snowboard and freeski competitions still scheduled, organisers abandoned the entire men’s slopestyle programme rather than award a result from an incomplete contest.
Three completed races elsewhere satisfied the requirement for a season title. Su Yiming finished on 140 points, one ahead of Judd Henkes, while Japanese rookie Yuto Kimura placed third with 135. Su therefore added slopestyle to his big air Crystal Globe.
