Jakob Glover made four penalty saves in an extended cup contest.
Source publication date:
Weston-super-Mare progressed in the Francis Hillier Premier Cup after defeating Paulton Rovers 11–10 on penalties. A youthful Weston side drew 1–1 in normal time before goalkeeper Jakob Glover made four saves during an unusually long shootout.
Brandon Bak opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Ricardo Thompson was fouled. Wayne Nderamani equalised ten minutes into the second half, while both teams subsequently hit the woodwork or saw opportunities saved without finding another goal.
Weston missed their first three shootout attempts but recovered to reach sudden death. Glover also scored a penalty himself before ultimately saving Dan McBeam's second attempt to secure progression. The Seagulls' next cup fixture was set to be away against Frome Town.
