The University of Washington won the men’s race at the 40th Windermere Cup by 0.165 seconds over Great Britain, the closest finish in the event’s history. The Seattle regatta required a photo to resolve the contest on the Montlake Cut.

Northeastern led through 500 metres before Washington moved ahead in the next quarter. Great Britain passed Northeastern and closed on the hosts, drawing level near the finish. The official results listed Washington in 5:29.08, Britain in 5:29.24 and Northeastern in 5:35.91.

Great Britain won the women’s race in 6:10.02, ahead of Washington’s 6:13.54 and Canada’s 6:15.27. It was Britain’s third women’s title after 1998 and 2022, while Canada’s women made their national team’s first appearance. The 2 May competition combined international crews with university rowing during Seattle’s annual Opening Day celebrations.
