The Windy City Open outlined community initiatives alongside its Chicago tournament programme. The event would highlight Project Beacon, the public outdoor squash court developed through collaboration between the Squash United Foundation, US Squash and the Chicago Park District at Union Park.

Arnie Dratt was set to receive the W. Stewart Brauns Jr. Award for his administrative contributions and work on the project. The tournament also planned a spectator ball-target challenge encouraging donations to Project Beacon and MetroSquash.

A seventh-grade class from Union Ridge School was scheduled to attend an afternoon session, tour the University Club and meet professional players. The programme connects the elite event with local youth participation, academic support and more accessible places to play.
