World Rugby confirmed 250 participants for its 2026 Women in Rugby Careers Programme. More than 1,300 applications were received from 114 countries, demonstrating the geographic reach of interest in the career development initiative.

The programme comprised seven virtual webinars, with the first session scheduled in April and featuring Sally Horrox. Its format focused on career development, personal skills and professional connections for women working in or seeking opportunities within rugby.

The announcement confirmed the selected cohort and learning format. It did not report job placements or completed programme outcomes. The number of applicant countries describes the application pool, and should not be interpreted as confirmation that every one of those countries was represented among the 250 selected participants.
