World Rowing’s opening season preview highlighted six events and initiatives for 2026. The World Rowing Championships will bring elite crews to Amsterdam’s Bosbaan from August 24 to 30, providing the central championship target for the year.

The federation also pointed to the inaugural Shanghai Sprints, scheduled for the final weekend of September within the Head of the Shanghai River Regatta. Short races and an urban setting are intended to attract audiences beyond traditional championship courses.

Other focal points include the virtual indoor championships, October beach sprint racing in Qingdao and September Masters competition in Bled. January’s annual awards ceremony rounds out a programme spanning connected rowing, international elite competition and lifelong participation.
