World Rowing announced its annual award winners after a gala at Lausanne’s Olympic Museum. Italy’s men’s quadruple scull became the first Italian crew to receive the men’s award, while the Netherlands’ women’s eight took the corresponding women’s honour.

Dutch coach Diederik Simon received Coach of the Year after a championship season in which the Netherlands won both eights in Shanghai. Britain’s Benjamin Pritchard earned the Para Crew award following his unbeaten progress since the Paris Paralympic Games.

Czech sculler Ondrej Synek received the Thomas Keller Medal. The federation also recognised contributions from India and Lithuania through its rowing programme and artistic awards. The ceremony brought competitive achievement, coaching and participation work together under the same annual honours programme.
