World Rugby and IMG announce media rights partnership
The agreement supports international distribution and the federation’s United States growth plans.
Source publication date:
World Rugby announced a strategic media rights partnership with IMG to support distribution and audience development. The agreement brought media advisory and content distribution work into the federation’s wider plan to expand rugby’s reach internationally.
The United States formed a prominent part of that strategy, ahead of the men’s Rugby World Cup in 2031 and the women’s tournament in 2033. The announcement described preparations for those future events rather than the completion of host-city selections.
World Rugby and IMG placed the arrangement within a relationship stretching back more than 30 years. The public announcement did not establish a rights fee that could be reported here. Its immediate news value was the confirmed partnership and its role in developing distribution before the two American World Cups.
