The ITTF acknowledged an announced leadership transition at World Table Tennis as its summit opened in London on 29 April. WTT chief executive Steve Dainton was due to step down effective 1 May 2026.

The federation, WTT’s majority owner, addressed the change in remarks preceding summit sessions. Its official publication described Dainton’s more than two decades in the sport, including eight years leading the ITTF and then the ITTF Group, and his role in establishing WTT.

The summit brought international representatives together ahead of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for 3 May. The verified announcement establishes the intended departure and governance context; it does not identify a successor or infer an unreported reason for the change.
