Yamal’s first hat-trick sends Barcelona past Villarreal
Lewandowski added a late fourth in the 4-1 league victory.
Source publication date:
Lamine Yamal scored his first Barcelona hat-trick as the league leaders defeated Villarreal 4-1 at Spotify Camp Nou. The eighteen-year-old supplied the home team’s first three goals, with Robert Lewandowski adding a fourth during stoppage time to complete the victory.
Yamal scored twice before the interval, giving Barcelona control against opponents who entered the match in third place. Villarreal responded after the break and threatened a recovery, but Yamal’s third goal restored a comfortable margin and pushed the contest beyond the visitors.
Lewandowski’s late finish confirmed the result. Barcelona extended their advantage over Real Madrid to four points before Madrid’s next fixture, while Yamal’s performance provided a new individual milestone in his already productive senior career.
