DPR Korea’s Son pinned the Olympic champion in the women’s 57kg semifinal in Nagoya.

Akari Fujinami’s 155-match winning streak ended in the Asian Games women’s 57kg semifinal on 3 October. DPR Korea’s Son defeated the Japanese Olympic champion by fall at Inae Sports Center, ending Fujinami’s bid for gold in Nagoya.
Son led 6-0 after the first period and extended the score to 10-0 before securing the pin in the second period. Fujinami had reached the semifinal with a 16-5 victory over Mongolia’s Khulan Batkhuyag and a 3-0 win against India’s Manisha.
Fujinami won Olympic gold and two senior world titles at 53kg before moving to 57kg. The defeat was a confirmed semifinal result and her first loss after a run stretching back nine years. It does not establish the final medal positions: the evening finals and Fujinami’s remaining medal opportunity had not concluded in the official report.
