Team Picnic PostNL pledges independent investigation into its culture

Team Picnic PostNL said on 15 October that it will commission an independent, professional investigation into its team culture following publications by NOS Sport and cycling platform In de Waaier. The confirmed development is the team’s commitment to a review, rather than findings from an investigation already completed.

In its response, the Dutch cycling organisation said the accounts shared by current and former riders and staff affected it, while disputing the overall picture presented in the reports. It said the review would examine how people experience the team’s culture and whether that experience matches the standards it seeks to maintain.

The team pointed to personal coaches, a rider committee and confidential advisers among its existing channels for concerns. It pledged to take the review’s findings seriously and introduce improvements where needed. The statement did not identify an investigator, publish terms of reference or set a completion date.
