Slovenia earns its first EURO 2000 win despite Jacobsen’s 11 goals
Slovenia secured its first victory at the Men’s EHF EURO 2000 by defeating Denmark 28–24 in Rijeka on 23 January. How it unfolded
Nikolaj Jacobsen scored 11 goals for Denmark and Michael Knudsen added five. Slovenia’s scoring was more widely shared: Uroš Šerbec produced six, while Zoran Lubej and Iztok Puc supplied five each. Denmark converted six of seven seven-metre throws, compared with Slovenia’s two from three. The official attendance was 2,000.

Slovenia had begun with defeats against Portugal and Russia, making this result its first two points. Denmark had already lost to Russia and Sweden.
