Norway recorded its first victory at the Men’s EHF EURO 2000 by defeating Ukraine 19–16 in Rijeka on 27 January. A 12–7 half-time lead provided the basis for the result. How it unfolded
Stig Rasch led Norway with six goals, Geir Oustorp added four, and Christian Berge and Jan Thomas Lauritzen scored three each. Ukraine had four players with three goals, while its leading tournament scorer Oleg Velyky was limited to two in this fixture. Norway converted one of two seven-metre throws; Ukraine had no attempts recorded.

Ukraine finished sixth with one point, earned through its opening draw with Germany.
