How it unfolded
Carlos Resende scored nine goals for Portugal and Filipe Cruz six, combining for 15 of their team’s 26. Nikolaj Jacobsen led Denmark with six, Morten Bjerre and Christian Hjermind supplied five each, and Michael Knudsen four. Denmark converted all four seven-metre throws, while Portugal scored five from seven attempts. The official attendance was 1,500.
The wider picture
Both teams ended the group on four points, alongside Slovenia. The final standings placed Slovenia third, Portugal fourth and Denmark fifth. Portugal therefore moved into the seventh-place match against Norway, whereas Denmark faced Germany for ninth place.
