Confirmed development

Napredak Krusevac defeated Ikast Bording EH 24–18 in the first leg of their women's Cup Winners' Cup fourth-round tie on 10 February 2001. The home side led 12–9 at halftime in Krusevac and doubled that three-goal advantage by the finish, leaving the Danish club with a six-goal deficit before the return match.

Details

Ljiljana Knezevic was credited with 15 goals in the contemporary government report. That total accounted for more than half of Napredak's scoring and gave the hosts a decisive individual contribution. The EHF season roster confirms Knezevic's full name; the report's leading Ikast scorer is identified only as Nielsen and is therefore left without an inferred first name.

Context

The clubs had also met in the preceding European season, when Ikast advanced despite losing the return leg in Krusevac. Napredak had reached this stage of the new campaign by overcoming Anadolu University Eskisehir across two matches. This home victory changed the balance of another Danish-Yugoslav tie, but qualification still depended on the second leg in Ikast on 17 February.
