Confirmed development
Napredak Krusevac reached the women's Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals despite losing 23–18 away to Ikast Bording EH on 17 February 2001. Its 24–18 victory in Krusevac a week earlier proved just sufficient: the Yugoslav club won the two-match tie 42–41 on aggregate. Ikast's five-goal success fell one goal short of erasing the first-leg deficit.
Details
Ikast led 16–10 at halftime, exactly cancelling Napredak's six-goal opening advantage and leaving the aggregate score level at 34–34. Napredak then outscored the hosts 8–7 in the second period to preserve its place in the competition. The contemporary report credited Ana Djokic with seven goals and Ljiljana Knezevic with six for the visitors; their identities are confirmed in EHF's season roster.
Context
The narrow aggregate outcome reversed the clubs' preceding European tie, which Ikast had won in 1999. Napredak's progression set up a quarter-final against Ukraine's Motor Zaporoshje. The distinction between the match and tie outcomes is essential: Ikast won the completed second leg in Denmark, while Napredak secured the qualification place through the combined score.
