Kazakhstan opens first Defence Ministry judo centre
The Aktobe facility follows an IJF partnership with military sport.

Kazakhstan opened its first judo centre under the Ministry of Defence Sports Committee at the Talgat Begeldinov Military Institute of the Air Defence Forces in Aktobe. The project followed cooperation between the ministry, the IJF and the Jenys International Sports Foundation.
The ministry received IJF-standard tatami, judogi and training equipment through the partnership. Defence Minister Dauren Kosanov described the facility as the agreement’s first tangible result and stated an ambition to establish further centres in military education institutions.
Sports Committee chair Arman Abeuov announced plans for an Armed Forces Judo League connecting units, academies and colleges. The league and wider expansion were announced plans, while the Aktobe centre’s opening was the completed development.
