Victory over Wang Xinyu completed her set of major quarterfinal appearances.
Source publication date:
Amanda Anisimova defeated Wang Xinyu 7–6(4), 6–4 to reach the Australian Open quarterfinals for the first time. The world number four completed her career set of last-eight appearances across the four Grand Slams while keeping a third consecutive major final within reach.
Anisimova relied on strong serving at important moments against a powerful first-time opponent. She also replaced a broken shoe during the opening set, then maintained concentration to win its tiebreak after fifty-one minutes before the match moved into a second set.
Wang received treatment for a right-leg problem after early exchanges of breaks. Anisimova finished with twenty-seven winners and twenty-seven unforced errors, acknowledging further room for improvement. The victory set up an all-American quarterfinal against Jessica Pegula, whom she had never beaten in three previous meetings.
