The senior record fell to 3:54.64 while Casoni also set an under-20 mark.
Source publication date:
Pietro Arese began his season with an Italian indoor mile record of 3:54.64 in Padova. He improved his own 3:55.71, set on the same track three years earlier.
Simone Valduga followed in 3:59.13. Alessandro Casoni ran 4:06.56 to break Italy’s under-20 indoor mile record, surpassing Stefano Mei’s 4:06.65 from January 1982.
The performances supplied both senior and junior national records in the same race. In a separate French meeting covered by FIDAL’s update, Simone Bertelli cleared 5.62 in pole vault, matching the best Italian under-23 indoor clearance. These were distinct results within the federation’s end-of-month competition report.
