AS FAR eliminate defending champions Pyramids
A 2-1 away win sent the Moroccan club into the Champions League semi-finals.
Source publication date:
AS FAR ended Pyramids’ CAF Champions League title defence with a 2-1 victory in Cairo. The Moroccan club advanced 3-2 on aggregate after an early goal and a second-half header gave them sufficient room to withstand the Egyptian side’s response.
Reda Slim opened the scoring after Youssef El Fahli led a counterattack down the right. Pyramids enjoyed possession but struggled to break down an organised defence, while a penalty appeal failed to change the match after consultation with VAR.
Slim then supplied a corner that captain Rabie El Harimat headed in after the interval. Fiston Mayele quickly reduced the deficit, but Pyramids could not add another despite pressing forward, leaving AS FAR to secure their place in the last four.
