Aston Martin joins Barcelona shakedown as Mercedes finishes programme
Stroll gave the AMR26 its first laps while McLaren dealt with a fuel system problem.
Source publication date:
Aston Martin began its Barcelona shakedown programme late on the fourth day, with Lance Stroll driving the AMR26. The debut meant every participating team had reached the track, with Williams the sole squad absent from the private five-day event.
Mercedes and Racing Bulls completed their permitted three days of running. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli reported encouraging mileage for Mercedes, while Liam Lawson highlighted reliability and progress as Racing Bulls continued learning about its new car and engine combination.
Oscar Piastri made his first appearance in McLaren’s MCL40 but a fuel system issue shortened the day. Ferrari gained dry-track running with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, and Sergio Perez added further laps for Cadillac before the final scheduled day.
