The R26 begins a works-team project targeting a championship challenge by 2030.
Source publication date:
Audi unveiled the R26 at Kraftwerk Berlin, marking the public launch of its first Formula 1 car. The German manufacturer presented a titanium, carbon fibre and lava red design as it prepared to make its Grand Prix debut in Australia.
Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto remain together for a second season. Team principal Jonathan Wheatley and project head Mattia Binotto joined Audi chief executive Gernot Dollner at the event, which underlined the company’s commitment to a fully integrated works operation.
Dollner set an ambition to fight for the championship by 2030. Audi had already run a 2026-specification car during a Barcelona filming day and planned to return there for the private shakedown week following the Berlin launch.
