Australia defeated Oman by nine wickets in Kandy in its final group match of the Men’s T20 World Cup. The former champion had already missed a Super Eight place after defeats by Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka during an injury-disrupted campaign.
Adam Zampa took 4/21 as Oman was bowled out for 104 in 16.2 overs. Xavier Bartlett dismissed Aamir Kaleem with the first delivery, and Wasim Ali’s 32 was Oman’s highest score. Glenn Maxwell also reached 50 T20 international wickets.
Mitchell Marsh led the chase with an unbeaten 64 from 33 balls. Travis Head contributed 32 before a caught-and-bowled dismissal, and Australia reached the target in 9.4 overs. Zampa received the player-of-the-match award for his bowling performance.
