Australia defeated DPR Korea 2-1 in Perth to reach the Women’s Asian Cup semi-finals and secure qualification for the 2027 World Cup. Sam Kerr contributed to both Australian goals, while goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold helped preserve the lead against sustained pressure.
Kerr’s early pressing created the opening from which Alanna Kennedy scored. DPR Korea responded strongly and hit a post before half-time, but Australia doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Kerr finished with a powerful left-footed shot.
Chae Un Yong reduced the deficit following a passing move midway through the second half. DPR Korea continued to seek an equaliser, but Arnold saved further efforts and Australia held on, leaving the opponents to pursue their World Cup place through a playoff.
