Greece defeated Hungary 15-14 in the men’s water polo World Cup final in Sydney on 26 July 2026. The victory brought Greece its first global men’s title after finishing with silver in the previous year’s World Cup.

Hungary led for only 35 seconds of the final. Greece built a three-goal advantage during the fourth quarter. Hungary narrowed the margin, but Greece preserved a one-goal winning difference.

Italy secured bronze with a 16-10 win over Australia. Greece’s Stylianos Argyropoulos was selected as most valuable player, while Panagiotis Tzortzatos received the best goalkeeper award.

The breakthrough was a completed championship outcome. It should not be confused with the women’s World Cup title, which the United States won on the same day, or with qualification for a future event.
