Source publication date:
Bangladesh ended its Under-19 World Cup campaign with a 74-run win over Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club. Neither team could reach the semi-finals, but Bangladesh’s late acceleration and incisive pace bowling secured a positive finish to the Super Six programme.
Captain Azizul Hakim Tamim made 59 as Bangladesh reached 253 for nine. The visitors scored 79 in the final ten overs, including 22 from the last over, after Zimbabwe had controlled much of the innings with disciplined bowling and fielding.
Iqbal Hossain then took five for 24 as Zimbabwe was dismissed for 179. Simbarashe Mudzengerere’s 70 and an unbeaten 42 from Shelton Mazvitorera delayed the finish, with their 64-run ninth-wicket partnership providing the hosts’ main resistance.
