Late Barcelona goals settle the Espanyol derby
Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski struck in the closing minutes after Joan García kept the visitors level.

Barcelona opened 2026 with a 2-0 La Liga victory at Espanyol. Dani Olmo broke the deadlock in the 86th minute and Robert Lewandowski added a second four minutes later, with Fermín López contributing to the build-up of both goals.
Joan García made several important saves against his former club, including stops from Pere Milla and Roberto Fernández. Espanyol created opportunities through their counterattacks, while Jules Koundé also cleared an effort off the line.
The result extended Barcelona’s unbeaten derby sequence to 29 matches and completed a ninth successive league win. The club’s report recorded a provisional seven-point advantage at the top, with Real Madrid still to play the following day.
