Barcelona Women claim their sixth Spanish Super Cup

Barcelona Women won the Spanish Super Cup for the sixth time by defeating Real Madrid 2-0 at Castalia. Esmée Brugts headed the opening goal in the 28th minute, providing an advantage in a final with chances at both ends.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez kept the score close with saves from Barcelona’s attackers. Sara Däbritz hit the crossbar before the interval, while Caroline Graham Hansen struck the woodwork in the second half as Barcelona searched for another goal.
Alexia Putellas settled the match with a penalty in stoppage time. The late finish rewarded Barcelona’s sustained pressure and secured the trophy after a semi-final in which the eventual champions had overcome Athletic Club despite playing the second half with ten players.
