Barty shares backhand slice with young Australian players
Thirty girls joined the former champion for a Melbourne clinic combining technique and wider sporting values.
Source publication date:
Ashleigh Barty coached thirty young girls at Melbourne Park in a clinic organised with the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Tennis Australia. The session formed part of the Hall of Fame’s Be Legendary initiative and Australia’s Super 10s programme, connecting emerging players with a former world number one.
Barty demonstrated her backhand slice through footwork, positioning and swing instructions. Participants practised the stroke before joining a question-and-answer session, receiving autographs and medals at the end of the clinic.
The three-time Grand Slam champion also discussed respect, curiosity and enjoyment of tennis’s challenges. Her focus extended beyond future titles to helping young players explore their own styles and develop confidence within a supportive group environment.
