Source publication date:
USM Alger beat Maniema Union 1-0 to reach the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals. Brahim Benzaza scored the only goal in the first half, bringing the quarter-final level at 2-2 on aggregate and giving the Algerian side the outcome they needed.
The home team applied early pressure while Maniema remained compact and looked for counterattacking opportunities. Benzaza found space in the penalty area around the half-hour mark and finished into the top corner to change the balance of the tie.
Maniema increased their attacking urgency after the interval, but USM held firm and also struck the woodwork twice. The visitors’ task became harder when Exaucia Moanda was dismissed after a late VAR review, allowing USM to protect their advantage.
