Matteo Berardo matched Italy’s under-18 indoor best over 60 metres with 6.78 in Padova. The time equalled marks previously recorded by Federico Guglielmi in 2019 and Daniele Inzoli in 2025.
Berardo finished third in a race won by Andrea Federici in 6.72. The Atletica Meneghina athlete was approaching his 17th birthday and entered the season as the reigning Italian under-18 outdoor 200-metre champion.
The performance followed a December result of 5.93 over 50 metres that had also matched an Italian age-group best. His January 60-metre result added another national benchmark as Italy prepared to host the European Under-18 Championships in Rieti in July.
