Berkane’s late penalty prevents a home defeat
Chouiar equalised against Al-Hilal deep into stoppage time.
Source publication date:
RS Berkane drew 1-1 with Al-Hilal after Munir Chouiar converted a stoppage-time penalty in their CAF Champions League quarter-final. The Moroccan club recovered from an early deficit at the Municipal Stadium to keep the tie level before the return.
Abdelraziq Omer gave Al-Hilal the lead after Adama Coulibaly supplied a low delivery into the penalty area. Berkane increased their attacking pressure and hit the crossbar, but the Sudanese side remained organised and retained their advantage into the closing stages.
A challenge on substitute Hamza Moussaoui eventually brought a penalty following a VAR review. Al-Hilal defender Steve Ebola was dismissed, and Chouiar scored in the ninth added minute, ensuring Berkane avoided defeat despite spending most of the match behind.
