Gankhaich Bold won women’s -63kg gold at the Dushanbe Grand Slam in an all-Mongolian final against Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo. The two leading seeds and world medallists converted their positions into gold and silver for their national team.
Both finalists accumulated two penalties during regulation time. The contest continued into golden score, where a third penalty to Lkhagvatogoo decided the result in Bold’s favour after a cautious tactical encounter.
Austria’s Lubjana Piovesana recovered from her semifinal loss to Bold to beat Croatia’s Nina Simic by ippon for bronze. Finland’s Louna-Lumia Seikkula won the other bronze with a kata-guruma against Korea’s Yeji Kim, earning her first Grand Slam medal.
