Boyers hat-trick powers South Island past PNG Hekari
South Island won 4-1 against opponents reduced to nine players.
Source publication date:
Rovu Boyers scored three times as South Island United beat PNG Hekari 4-1 in Honiara. The result strengthened the New Zealand club’s top-four position at the start of Round Four, following a weather delay before kick-off.
Rex Naime put Hekari ahead early, but Boyers equalised before Nelson Karaun was dismissed for denying a scoring opportunity. A deflected clearance then gave South Island the lead, and Ati Kepo’s second booking left Hekari facing the remainder with nine men.
Boyers extended the advantage after the hour mark and completed his hat-trick late on by reacting to a spilled cross. Hekari continued to create occasional chances despite their numerical disadvantage, but South Island converted the extra space into a decisive victory.
