Hong Kong tops university wushu standings in Brasília
Türkiye’s sanda champions and Brazil’s home gold featured in the closing report.

Hong Kong, China finished first in the university wushu medal standings after 24 events in Brasília, followed by Türkiye and China. Competition covered both taolu routines and sanda contests across championship week.
Türkiye’s women won sanda gold through Senanur Yikilmaz at 48kg, Nazli Karakuş at 52kg, Nezaket İrem İhtiyar at 56kg and Melike Nur Yıldız at 60kg. Yusuf Eren Akkaya also won the men’s 70kg title.
Brazil’s Lucas Gabriel Quirino de Freitas secured men’s 52kg sanda gold at home. Canada’s Julianna Huang won women’s taijijian and taijiquan, illustrating the international spread of titles across the performance and combat disciplines.
