The Englishman beat Melvil Scianimanico in four games before facing Paul Coll.

Jonah Bryant defeated Melvil Scianimanico 11–1, 9–11, 11–8, 11–7 in the Australian Open quarterfinals. The sixty-six-minute match was played at South Bank Piazza with temperatures close to thirty degrees Celsius and humidity reported at eighty-five percent during the Brisbane evening.
Bryant pulled away from 7–7 in both the third and fourth games to reverse a defeat to Scianimanico at the previous year’s Irish Open. The twenty-year-old said he had concentrated on staying in rallies and taking the attacking opportunities that arrived under difficult conditions.
Paul Coll defeated Auguste Dussourd 11–5, 11–4, 11–5 in forty minutes to become Bryant’s semifinal opponent. Nele Gilis also advanced in straight games against Aifa Azman, winning 11–5, 11–5, 11–3 and setting a women’s semifinal against top seed Sivasangari Subramaniam.
