Burgan win their first Asian men’s club handball title
The Kuwaiti club beat Khaleej 34-32 after extra time and qualified for the global club championship.

Burgan SC won their first Asian men’s club handball championship on 17 June 2026, defeating Saudi Arabia’s Khaleej Club 34-32 after extra time. The final was tied 27-27 after regulation.
The Kuwaiti side recovered from a late deficit before taking control in the additional period. Kosuke Yasuhira scored nine goals in the final and Hassan Kaddah added eight. Al-Duhail beat Al-Kuwait 36-34 in the bronze-medal match.
The tournament ran from 6 to 17 June in Sabah Al-Salem and also served as Asian qualification for the IHF Men’s Club World Championship. Yasuhira received the most valuable player award, while Burgan’s Mohsen Mahmoud finished as leading scorer with 61 goals.
