Al-Hilal defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium to take sole possession of first place in CAF Champions League Group C. The Sudanese team moved to eight points, leaving its South African opponent second on five.

Mohammed Abdel Rahman converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time after an error by goalkeeper Denis Onyango. Jean Claude Girumugisha doubled the lead four minutes after the restart, striking a loose ball from the edge of the area.

Sundowns substitute Arthur Sales reduced the deficit shortly after the hour mark and set up a tense finish. Al-Hilal absorbed the ensuing pressure, managed the closing stages and kept the one-goal margin, turning the neutral-ground meeting into a significant group-stage victory.
