A second-half set piece settled a rain-affected match despite sustained Juventus pressure.
Source publication date:
Juventus lost 1-0 at Cagliari as Luca Mazzitelli converted a second-half set piece. The visitors had opportunities on a difficult pitch under heavy rain, but the home side protected its advantage and prevented a late equaliser.
Elia Caprile saved Fabio Miretti’s attempt in the 25th minute and stopped Andrea Cambiaso early in the second half. Mazzitelli then struck in the 65th minute, giving Cagliari a lead that changed the demands of the closing stages.
Kenan Yıldız threatened twice as Juventus pushed forward. Caprile denied him in the 78th minute before a deflected effort hit the post six minutes later. The remaining pressure failed to produce a goal, leaving Juventus without a point from the trip.
