The Cyprus resort signed a services agreement for the open and women’s tournaments in March and April.
Source publication date:
Cap St Georges Hotel and Resort signed an agreement with FIDE to become the official hotel-services partner of the 2026 Candidates tournaments. The resort near Paphos will host the open and women’s events from 28 March to 16 April.
The agreement includes the partner’s presence in the tournaments’ international broadcast and event branding. FIDE chief executive Emil Sutovsky described accommodation and playing conditions as priorities for the competitors, following visits by the federation’s organising team to prepare the venue.
Eight players contest each double round-robin tournament to determine the next world championship challengers. The combined prize fund is €1 million. Resort owner and chief executive George Ioannou linked the hosting agreement to the venue’s wider event programme and its contribution to the Paphos community.
