Ceh reaches 72.26m in early-season discus competition
The Slovenian leads an international weekend of long throws and distance-running records.

Kristjan Ceh threw 72.26m in Ramona, Oklahoma, during his second competition of the season. The European discus champion’s opening-round effort was eight centimetres short of his Slovenian record and the third-best performance of his career.
Ceh had thrown 68.76m the previous day before benefiting from more favourable wind conditions. He backed up the leading mark with 72.05m and planned to return to the same venue in the first half of April.
Elsewhere, seventeen-year-old Yan Ziyi threw a season-leading 65.25m in the women’s javelin in Chengdu. At The Ten in California, Ky Robinson ran an Oceanian 10,000m record of 26:57.07, while Mohamed Abdilaahi lowered Germany’s record to 26:58.58 and Mike Foppen set a Dutch record of 27:20.52.
